Airway RISK Course Tetons (Resuscitate, Intubate, Scope & Knife) - June 2024

Moran,, WY US
June 4, 2024 to June 6, 2024

World's Most Beautiful Airway Course

Dr. Levitan's Airway RISK (Resuscitation, Intubation, Scope & Knife) Courses combine highly engineered and incrementalized airway proceduralism with didactics directed at specific clinical challenges--in 2 of America's most scenic venues: Grand Teton National Park (Jackson Lake Lodge, Moran Wyoming) and Acadia National Park (Harborside Spa and Resort, Bar Harbor ME).  The courses are scheduled specifically during less busy tourist times of the year (early summer 2024 in the Tetons, and early fall 2023 in Acadia).  Recharge your soul--and improve your Beauty to Death ratio--with other providers also practicing at the sharp end of clinical care in emergency medicine, critical care, EMS, and anesthesia.  Both courses involve optional group activities to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Specialized and unique custom designed airway manikins built by Dr. Levitan provide anatomic variation for hands-on practice with various laryngoscopes, fiberscopes, and surgical devices. Attendees practice endoscopy with ORSim bronhcoscopic simulators with a variety of abnormal anatomy and pathologic presentations, as well performing live nasoendoscopy (using sterile sheaths on themselves and each other). [Participants on anticoagulants should not undergo nasoendoscopy.]

Didactic presentations address angioedema, facial trauma, vomitology (hemotypsis, bowel obstruction, GI bleeding), ARDS and challenges of oxygenation, morbid obesity and advanced pregnancy, asthma/COPD, resuscitation and airway management in clinical situations of acute RV strain, the violated neck, and tracheal stenosis and perilaryngeal pathology.

Additional presentations cover essential airway anatomy, oxygenation/O’s up the nose/bag
mask ventilation/supraglottic airways and non-invasive ventilation, risks and safety in awake
vs. RSI approaches, managing the EMS delivered airway, and tracheal tube exchange.

WHAT MAKES THIS ADVANCED AIRWAY COURSE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER AIRWAY COURSES?

There is a unique focus on high-grade proceduralism with extensive hands-on practice with a wide variety of airway devices. In addition to the nasoendoscopy experience, uniquely designed intubation mannequins and surgical airway models offer anatomic variation and different intubation challenges. The nasoendoscopy experience provides an opportunity to see a wide variety of live-tissue airway anatomy.  The emphasis is on practical clinical management--to improve airway providers' confidence and critical performance in the most challenging situations of emergency and critical care.

Target Audience

The Advanced Airway Course is tailored to emergency physicians, but critical care physicians, anesthesiologists, and other clinicians responsible for emergency and difficult airway management are encouraged to attend.
