Educational Objectives

After completing this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the critical components of the history, physical exam and data collection process that are critical to assuring a well-supported evaluation, treatment and disposition of Emergency Department patients.
  • Discuss important principles of communication, documentation, and medical-legal issues, including updates in EMTALA and sexual harassment.
  • Develop an effective Emergency Department Risk Management program.
  • Review current medical literature and analyze actual emergency medicine malpractice cases.

Target Audience
