Kevin Klauer, DO, EJD, FACEP – Course Director
is Director of the Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) and the Chief Medical Officer for Emergency Medicine Physicians, Ltd., based in Canton, Ohio. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Physicians Specialty Limited Risk Retention Group. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Klauer serves as Editor-in-Chief for Emergency Physicians Monthly publication and is the Co-Author of two risk management books: Emergency Medicine Bouncebacks: Medical and Legal and Risk Management and the Emergency Department: Executive Leadership for Protecting Patients and Hospitals. Dr. Klauer also serves as ACEP Council Vice Speaker.


Robert Blankenship, MD, FACEP
is a board certified emergency physician. He did his emergency medicine residency at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. During his 11 years of active duty he served as an Emergency Medicine Assistant Residency Director, Ultrasound Director, and the Transitional Year Program Director at Madigan Army Medical Center. Dr. Blankenship also developed the Army's First Tactical Ultrasound Course in 2007 after returning from Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service with 1-66 Armor, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. Dr. Blankenship currently is the Medical Director of St. Vincent Medical Center Northeast and the Ultrasound Director of St. Vincent Emergency Physicians.


Michael Frank, MD, JD, FACEP, FCLM
is General Counsel and Director of Risk Management for Emergency Medicine Physicians (EMP), in which capacity he manages all EMP legal affairs, including professional liability claims. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine and Life Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is a member of numerous medical and legal professional societies.


Elliot S. Nipomnick, MD, FACEP
is in the full-time practice of emergency medicine at Chinese Hospital in San Francisco, serves on the Board of Directors of EMPP and PSLRRG, and as the California Coastal Regional Medical Director for EMPP. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, the President of the Alameda Contra Costa County Emergency Physicians Association, and serves as Expert Reviewer for CMS, Alameda County, CA), the Medical Board of California, HSAG and Lumetra.


Amal Mattu, MD
is a frequent speaker on the national and international CME circuit on topics related to emergency cardiology and geriatrics. He is the author of the best-selling texts ECGs for the Emergency Physician Volume 1 and Volume 2, has served as chief editor for two other popular textbooks focused on errors in emergency medicine. In 1996, he joined the faculty of emergency medicine at the University of Maryland, and since that time he has received more than a dozen teaching awards, including Teacher of the Year from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and national teaching awards from the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians.


Ghazala Sharieff, MD, FACEP, FAAP, FAAEM
is the Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Palomar-Pomerado Health System. She holds a Clinical Professor appointment at the University of California, San Diego. She is a diplomate of both the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.


David Slattery, MD, FACEP
is attending physician and Director of Emergency Medicine Education at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. He holds a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment with the Department of Surgery for the University of Nevada School of Medicine, and he serves as the Assistant EMS Medical Director for the Clark County Health District EMS office in southern Nevada. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and is a past president of the Nevada Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
